Where Hotraco Agri specialist dealer Ventilec NV from Lokeren in Belgium set up a new sow barn for 400 sows. The management system used at the farm is based on a 4 week cycle. |
The barn contains a farrowing department with 72 farrowing crates and 4 servicing/pregnant sow pens that can take 81 sows each. Each department is fitted with a measurement vane with one or more extinguisher units.
There are 4 further departments that can take 485 piglets each, divided into groups of 15 piglets. A number of pens in the piglets department are fitted with under floor heating. There are also 2 adoption departments that can take 15 sows each and have lots of light. |
The entire barn is ventilated via a central exhaust system, which is controlled by 2 Orion-VS climate computers with 1 frequency regulator for the central ventilation. |
The air is cleaned by means of an organic air washer. The air washer is controlled by a small Hotraco unit.
Air is supplied to the various departments by means of underground ducts with separate outdoor air supplies for the various groups of animals. |
