The Mooij Suction Ventilation System has turned out to be a huge success for rapidly drying and effectively chilling potatoes and onions in open crates.
One ‘disadvantage’ that was identified, however, was the laying, rolling and rolling up again of the canal cover tarpaulin.
There are various options for laying the sheet automatically on the rows of crates. Most of these require a sturdy construction on the roof and/or wall. The disadvantage of this, however, is that you cannot use the hall as well for storing empty crates or parking machines. For this reason, we have developed the Mooij Roll-up Canal Cover Tarpaulin system.
An axle, driven by a motor reductor or a hand winch, is placed above the suction opening on the underpressure chamber. Two belt drums are placed on this axle. A nylon belt runs inside each belt drum. These belts lie loose under the sheet and return to the belt drums over the top edge of the sheet. This causes the sheet to roll up. This solves the problem of rolling up the sheet.
Rolling out the sheet takes place manually. A long rope is attached to the specially designed bracket. When this is pulled, the sheet rolls out further and further, from the underpressure chamber. Where the most recent crates are stacked, the bracket and sheet go right down to the floor.
The Mooij Roll-up system suitable for both standard Canal Cover Tarpaulins and Canal Cover Tarpaulins with drop-down side flaps.
