In partnership with his parents, Mark Huijbregts has an arable company and pig farm in Reusel, in the south of the Netherlands.
The total acreage amounts to 150 hectares; 65 hectares of which for processing potatoes, 10 hectares for sugar beets, 10 hectares for vegatables for the canning industry and 65 hectares for corn.
In 2007 the company built a new storage with dimensions of 50 x 25 meters. This building is suitable for 3250 tons of potatoes. The Mooij ventilation system is divided into 3 controls. One part of the storage room is provided with under floor ducts and the other 2/3 are provided with semi circular ducts.

For the automatic control the Orion storage computer is selected. All rooms are executed with a frequency converter for energy saving and free choice for the amount of air. The air quantity can directy be set on the Orion. On top of that the ventilation system can be fully controlled by the PC from the house, where the Rainbow management program is installed.
The Orion controls the hatches and axial flow fans based on temperature and relative humidity. They have chosen for the experience and equipment of Mooij, because of the ease of use of the Orion storage computer in combination with Rainbow software and the fine control of the frequency converters. By operating the axial flow fans during internal ventilation at a lower number of rpm's, the warming up of the crop is minimized and shrink is strongly reduced.
The application at Maatschap Huijbregts proves that the basic concept is transformed into a reliable and profitable installation.
